Endulen Mission, Tanzania, East Africa

These photos are from a trip to East Africa that I made in February of 2000 to visit Father Ned Marchessault, C.S.Sp. Fr. Ned is a Holy Ghost Father, and has been in Africa for 30 years. For the last 18 years, he has been living with the Maasai people in Endulen. If you are interested in more information about his work, he can be reached at:

Thanks to a supply of batteries and solar cells and satellite link, Fr. Ned can also be reached via e-mail at: Ned@osotua.org

Endulen is a Maasai village, with a population of several hundred people, located near Ngorongoro crater, one of the most beautiful wild life parks in the world.

Fr. Ned is educating Maasai young men and women in English and Swahili so that they can sit for the country’s secondary school exams. His hope is that he can help educate enough people that they can have a voice in the destiny of their tribe’s fortunes – otherwise they will rapidly become a marginalized people in a very, very poor country. You can find some more beautiful photos and description of Ned’s work here: http://osotua.org
